I got a very close shave in Barrio Tepito - Mexico City’s Toughest Neighborhood! How Did It Go? Huge thank you to Daniel Olguín for welcoming us to Daniel Olguín Barbería on the edge of the bustling Tepito Market! 🙏🏼 Daniel grew up in Tepito with his tight-knit family. “My neighborhood has always been known for different stories, both good and bad,” he says, "but it never goes unnoticed." Inspired by a friend who was one of Tepito’s first barbers, Daniel discovered barbering was much more than a well-paying job - “it’s an art, it’s magic” ✨💈✨ Over the past 12 years, he's built a career from the ground up, learning through observation, persistence, and passion. His shop, Daniel Olguín Barbería, has been open for nearly nine years, six of those years in Tepito. Daniel’s goal is: to make people feel comfortable and at home. Knowing that people leave happy with his work and seeing their self-esteem change at the end of a haircut is what he enjoys most about being a barber 🙌🏼 Daniel describes Tepito as “a neighborhood full of hardworking, humble people who, despite the history it may have with vandalism and all those things, Tepito has decent and good people living in it.” This is a neighborhood that "fights for its dreams." The people living here have "timeless stories, life stories that are interesting and admirable.” For Daniel, “There are no bad people... only bad decisions from tough life situations.” “Don’t let the name of the neighborhood influence you,” he says. He would love for people to give his barbershop a chance and allow themselves to see how beautiful it is and the warmth of the service. ✨ His life advice: "DO EVERYTHING WITH LOVE, DEDICATION, AND PASSION!!!” Whatever path you choose, do it with all your heart. Put in the work, stand out, persevere, and be patient because with discipline and love, dreams come true. ▶ Have you watched all of our videos from Mexico?
