If you do have dents in your floor that are exceptionally deep. You can put some water on it to decompress the wood. It will then sit proud from the sanded floor and you can then sand it off, sometimes it will completely get rid of the dents, but at the very least, reduce their size and stop them popping out during the lacquering.
