A puppy was left on the scene looking through the damage with it’s owner nowhere unknown. Other homes were also slabbed along HWY-49 just east of Mount Moriah Church that were brick where a resident was blown into a pasture and is in the hospital as of this time. Tropical Storm Ian formed September 23rd over the central Caribbean Sea. Traveling slowly northwestward, it strengthened to Hurricane status on September 26th. Hurricane Fiona began its life on 9/15/2022 as a tropical storm in the windward islands. The system moved across portions of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic on 9/18/2022 gaining strength and becoming a hurricane. The island of Puerto Rico sustained wind damage along with flash flooding and mudslides. The system continued to churn across the Atlantic the following week and began to impact the Canadian Provinces on 9/23/2022 while taking post tropical characteristics. Nova Scotia and surrounding areas took a hard hit into 9/24/2022 as the system raced north. This system produced substantial damage all along it's path. #Hurricane #Fiona #LSMwx #2022
Hurricane Laura made landfall as a powerful category 4 hurricane across portions of the southwest Louisiana coastline with winds of 150 mph and a storm surge of 15-20 feet across the coast. The cities of Sulphur, Lake Charles, Holly Beach, and Cameron were hit particularly hard. The National Weather Service radar at the Lake Charles Regional airport was also destroyed as Laura dismantled the region. #Hurricane #Laura
