Many comments saying I went below minimums. RVR is not a controlling factor for part 91. Flight visibility is though. In this case, as pilot in command, I determined that the flight visibility was adequate (1/2 mile or greater) by using the ALS as a reference. (Refer to part 91.175.) PAPI lights were in sight right after the "minimums" callout. "Lights no runway" was referring to the PAPI lights in sight but the actual runway as it had snow on it. Flew down from CGF to CAK to shoot some approaches in low IFR conditions. Visibility reported by ATIS was 1/2 mile. There was also freezing fog, heavy snow, Touchdown RVR at one point was 1,200' then came up to 1,400 before landing. Lights in sight just above minimums. Approach lights are very hard to see due to the camera. Runway came into sight just above 100' AGL. Subscribe for more.
