Phool Makhana/lotus seeds or fox nuts are extremely healthy and nutritious food specially for hormonal balance and weight loss..it's rich in protein and fibre ..it's also packed with many minerals and vitamins so today I will be sharing 5 very simple and easy Makhana recipes. So enjoy these Crunchy, yummy and the best tea time snacks. 1. How to roast Makhana:- In a pan or kadai add 1 bowl of Makhana and roast them on very low heat...keep stirring them in between..it might take between 10-15 minutes...to check if they are roasted properly just take one Makhana in hand and crush it ...if it breaks nicely with a crunching sound that means they are done. 2. Caramelised Makhana/lotus seeds Ingredients:- 1 cup roasted Makhana 1.5 tsp jaggery (gur) 1/4 tsp ghee 1 tsp sesame seeds Recipe (method):- In a small pan add 1/4 tsp of ghee to it add crushed jaggery stir well. Once the jaggery has melted ..switch off the flames and add Makhana and sesame seeds to the pan...mix until the Makhanas are well coated in jaggery...if Makhana have stick to each other than break them using a spoon or hand once cool. 3. Tangy flavoured Makhana Ingredients:- 1 cup roasted Makhana Rock salt to taste 1/2 tsp dry mango powder/ amchur powder Some chilli powder 1/2 tsp roasted Cumin powder Chaat Masala (optional) 1.5 tsp pure Honey 1 tsp melon seeds Recipe (method):- In a small cup add all ingredients except Makhana and melon seeds, mix well..make a paste of it..now in pan add Makhana and on top add the mixture..switch off the flames add melon seeds and mix well until the Makhanas are well coated in the mixture. 4. Refreshing mint flavoured Makhana Ingredients:- 1 cup roasted Makhana 1 tsp mint powder Salt to taste Black pepper powder Some curry Leaves 1 tsp pumpkin seeds 1/4 tsp ghee Recipe (method):- In a pan heat ghee add curry Leaves salt, pepper and pumpkin seeds once the seeds are roasted add Makhana and switch off the flames add mint powder on top and mix everything very well.. 5. Makhana mixture Namkeen Ingredients:- 1 cup roasted Makhana 1/4 tsp ghee 1/2 tsp mustard seeds 1 handfull of peanuts Some roasted chana Salt to taste 1/4 tsp turmeric powder Black pepper powder Some slice dry coconut Recipe (method ):- In a pan heat ghee add mustard seeds once they start to crackle add peanut, once the peanuts are roasted add roasted chana and coconut....add all the spice and mix well...than add the roasted Makhana and mix well again ...your Makhana mixture is ready to serve
