It's been a long time since I've done a lot of down picking, I used to be pretty good at it a few years ago when I was playing a lot of Trivium stuff, but it's gotten very rust over the past few years so for the first day of playing I could feel my arm cramping because I just wasn't used to it, by the end of the week IO was good though and it's now a breeze to play through. I figured I'd try and make the song longer by including a dueling solo. I wanted to do the Dragonforce-esque back and forth with the solos until they build up to the harmony part. There was one pattern that I wanted to include, it's the very stereotypical rock lick that Metallica uses in most of their songs, the bend into hammer ones, that was something I always struggled with when I was younger, I could never figure it out so it's nice that I was able to use it in this.
