Within two years Streisand, whose magnificent interpretations of both standards and quirky, obscure cabaret tunes was a nationwide sensation, was knocking audiences dead with her nightly performance as Miss Marmelstein in David Merrick's I Can Get It For You Wholesale on Broadway. Sixty years, multiple Grammy, Emmy, Oscar, Tony and Golden Globe awards and nearly two hundred million record sales later, Barbra has for the first time authorized the release of a major portion of her Bon Soir performances, as captured in 1962 by Columbia Records. 2023 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the film and soundtrack Yentl. The movie established Barbra Streisand as a director of uncommon depth and sensitivity. Her efforts were rewarded with two Golden Globe awards - one for Best Motion Picture Musical, and most notably, another for Best Director.Barbra was the first woman to win in this prestigious category. This anniversary edition of the Yentl OST runs over 2 records: LP one features the original Yentl soundtrack. LP two features tracks that Barbra recorded as demos in her living room - on a stereo cassette deck - in order to get the movie made - with Barbra narrating each track.
