If the Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix is successful, and since Matt Reeves is basically rebooting Batman with a younger version of the character in The Batman, the idea would be to just cross those two together in a future movie, rather than have The Batman be part of the DCEU. Hughes stresses that this is just an idea right now and that nothing is set in stone, but if this turns out to be true I think that it’d make a lot of sense. Since The Batman isn’t going to star Ben Affleck and will focus on a younger Batman, it may make more sense to Warner Bros. to just start fresh in a brand new universe.
