A&Z #906 - Randy Santel "Atlas" vs Pyre Provisions' SmokeHouse Southern Louisiana BBQ Pitmaster Challenge at Pyre Provisions in Covington, Louisiana!! After attempting the 5lb Mexican Burrito Challenge at La Palma Mexican Restaurant in Thibodaux, Louisiana, I traveled to Covington, Louisiana which is north of New Orleans, LA. I was the first person to attempt and help kick off the new SmokeHouse Southern Louisiana BBQ Pitmaster Challenge at Pyre Provisions which is a wood-fired restaurant specializing in dishes inspired by southern cooking. I had 1 hour to feast on a rack of Cantonese pork ribs, over 1lb of Texas-style beef brisket, and 1 whole smoked chicken served with orders of Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Southern-style Cheesy Grits, Glazed Carrots, and some homemade southern cornbread.   • Pyre Provisions is a wood fire restaurant, inspired by Chef Jeff Mattia and his journey throughout southern kitchens. All of Pyre’s food and beverage is celebrated through fire. Wood-fired cooking is brought to life with smoked and wood grilled techniques.
  • They offer a "Pyre Smokehouse" BBQ plate on their menu which features your choice of two 1lb meats, 3 pit sides, some cornbread, and pickles, which is meant to feed 3-4 people.
  • For this Pitmaster BBQ Challenge, one brave challenger has 1 hour to finish three 1lb meats, 3 pit sides, and some cornbread.
  • My 3 meats - 1 whole smoked chicken, Texas-style beef brisket, and 1 rack of Cantonese pork ribs.
  • My 3 pit sides - Southern Artisanal Cheese Grits, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, and Glazed Carrots.
  • Some moist cornbread is included on the platter, and there is a 1 hour time limit to finish it all.
  • The Abita Brewery beers and the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream in this video were optional.
  • Winners earn the $48 challenge meal free, a sweet t-shirt, and spot on Pyre's future Wall of Fame.
