This is usually because their floor isn't very damaged at all, it has just lost its lustre. If this is the case it's ideal to do what I call a 'buff n coat'. This replenishes the shine and gives the floor another layer of protection. It also means that you don't have to lose those few millimetres of wood you would lose by sanding the floor down.
